I lied.

It won't change it, that's up to you to make the change.

I heard Hal speak in 2019 and the most important sentence that left his mouth was…

Let go of fear and anxiety and chose the path of clarity

The book

At the back, it has a suggested email. Here is my version. I sent it out in 2018 for the 2019 new year and got 40 responses. The trick is to send this to as many people as you can, that know you differently; some close some far.

When I read these, boy did people not hold back. I can say I have enough advice for a lifetime and I hope it is useful or inspires you to dive out of your comfort zone.

Dear friends, family and colleagues,

Thank you so much for reading this e-mail. This isn’t an easy one for me to send, but it is extremely important to me, so I sincerely appreciate you investing your valuable time reading (and hopefully responding) to it.

This e-mail is going out to only a select group of people. Each of you knows me well in different capacities (or knew me well) and I’m hoping will give me honest feedback about my strengths and most importantly, my weaknesses (areas of improvement).

I’m ready to make some radical changes in my life, (perfect timing as the new year is on the way) in order to be the best daughter, friend, family member, acquaintance, colleague, and ex.

I’ve never done anything like this before, but I feel that for me to grow and improve as a person, I need to get a more accurate picture of how I’m showing up to the people that matter most to me. In order to become the person I need to be to create life and contribute to others at the levels that I want, I need your feedback.

So, all I’m asking is that you take just a few minutes to email me back with what you honestly think on my top two or three areas of improvement. If it will make you feel better to also list my top two or three strengths (I’m sure it will make me feel better), you’re definitely welcome to. That’s it.

Please don’t sugarcoat it or hold back anything. I will not be offended by anything that you share. In fact, the more brutally honest you are, the more leverage it will give me to make positive changes in my life.

Thank you again, and if there is anything else I can do to add value to your life please let me know.

With sincere gratitude,

Climbed England’s highest mountain (978m) and managed to network on the way up; typical me ( the linked in man took the photo- we are friends)
